How To Build Toy Medieval Knight Swords
With the right plan, materials, and equipment, you can make a simple Medieval Toy Knight Wood Sword, as shown here.
Materials:
- 1" x 2" x 48" Oak or other desired Wood
- 1" Wood Screws; 6 pieces
- Sandpaper
- Wood Filler and Glue
- Satin Finish Polyurethane Poly
Step 1: Cut out the Sword Pieces - Determine the desired size of your Sword
- Select the 1" material; cut one piece @ 31.5"; with a band saw, cut out the hand portion and tip per the dimensions above; usining a 1/4" round-over bit, router all edges of the sword
- Select the remaining material; cut two pieces @ 3/8" x 7/8" x 7" for the Sword Handle Guard, as shown above
- Select the remaining material; cut two pieces @ 1" x 7/8" x 2.5" for the Handle Guard Spacers, as shown above
Step 2: Assemble the Handle Pieces - Select all pieces
- Select one half of the Handle Guard; Center and attach it with two screws as shown above
- Select the two Spacers; Using glue and screws, attach them to the one half of the Handle
- Select the remaining half of the Handle; Using glue and screws, attach it to complete the Handle Guard
Step 3: Finish the Sword - Select the finishing materials
- Fill all holes and cracks with filler; sand all surfaces
- Apply poly
- Present it to your young swordsman
