How To Make A Murphy Bed
With the right plans, materials, and equipment, you can construct
this Murphy Bed, as shown here.

- Plywood, 3/4" x 4' x 8': Eight sheets for Bed Frame, Nightstands and Drawers,
Storage Cabinets
- Plywood, 1/4" x 4' x 8': Three sheets for the Bed Frame, Cabinet Door Panels,
Back Panels of the Night Stands and Cabinets
- Hardwood, 1" x 12" x 8': One piece for the Drawer Fronts
- Hardwood, 1" x 2" x 8': Eight pieces for the Frame Fronts and Door Frames
- Hardwood, 1" x 1.5" x 55": Five pieces for the Bed Support Braces
- Hard Foam Insulation, 1.5" x 4' x 8': One piece for the Bed
- Crown Moulding, 2" x 8': Three pieces for the top
- Base Moulding, 4" x 10': For the Bottom Finishing
- Contoured Moulding, 5/16" x 2" x 8': Four pieces for the Finish Bed Panel
- Hardwood, 1" x 8" x 6': One piece for the Shelf
- 7" Corbels: Two pieces for the Shelf Supports
- Drawer Pulls: 10
- 1 1/4" Wood Screws: 1/4 lb.
- 3" Wood Screws: 1/4 lb.
- 1 1/4" Kreg Pocket Hole Screws: 1/4 lb.
- 3/4" Wood Screws: 1/4 lb.

Options: Order the Murphy Bed Kit - I was very pleased with the quality of the bed
hardware and instructions; I made the following customized changes:
- Added two additional 1.5" Support Braces to the Bed Frame
- Added 1.5" Hard Foam Board between the Support Braces
- Added 7 1/8" deep Shelf to provide more rigid support for the foot of the Bed
- Added Contoured Moulding, 5/16" x 2" to hide the center seam of the two bed frame Panels
- Added the Base Moulding
- Added the two Nightstands, Storage Cabinets, and the Lighted Bridge Cabinet across the Top
